Flamepaw looked at Leafpool for a little and nodded. He looked to Rowanclaw, whose eyes were narrowed. After a small pause, Rowanclaw shook his head. "No." Flamepaw looked devastated, but did not argue. He helped Batpaw support Darkpaw, and they headed back to camp. Some of the ShadowClan cats stayed on the border, watching with narrowed eyes.

As the ShadowClan cats left, Silverpool let out an anguished wail:

Dawnpaw was pacing on the border, her eyes wide with worry. She had been assigned, along with Tigerpaw, to watch and make sure the ThunderClan cats left. Tigerpaw put his tail on her shoulder comfortingly. "She'll be fine," He mewled.

Meanwhile, at the ShadowClan camp, Darkpaw wasn't doing well. Flamepaw did his best to keep up with orders, and when they had done all they could do, he scrambled to the border. "She may live... but she may loose her senses. Hearing or sight, or smell." He bowed his head in grief.

Tawnypelt followed her son. Silverpool had stopped moaning, but was lying still on the ground. She looked up at Tawnypelt. "Kill me. Maybe StarClan will spare her senses if you kill me. If you don't the guilt will."

She was instantly lifted by her Clanmates and laid in a nest in the medicine cat den.
"MY KIT! WHERE'S MY KIT?" The cry came from Snowcloud, Silverpool's mother.
A shocked murmering came from the whole Clan. "She didn't come back?" "I could have sworn she was right behind me!!!"

Tawnypelt was curled up in her favorite tree near the border. The sound of the stream was calming. The sound of movement came from down below, and Tawnypelt took in a silver cat stumbling towards the stream. The cat bunched up, as if to jump to the other side....or in...

Leafpool suddenly scented Silverpool near the stream. She saw her standing at the edge.
"NOO!"
She ran towards her, ready to save her life.
