As the sun rises at daybreak, A kindle of kittens begin to wake. They bounce along the forest floor, Hopping and tumbling, mewling for more. Their fur is unkempt, and their paws are sore, But that doesn’t stop the kittens.
As the sun climbs up to reach its apogee, The bobcats assemble beneath a kumquat tree. They gather and bob and growl, Until they scent the vicious owl, A scent they know to be so foul That they flee like the bobcats they are.
As the sun descends in the afternoon, A leap of leopards hunts a baboon. They prowl through the trees, Bending their knees, Till their prey that they seize Belongs to the mouths of the leopards.
As the sun descends lower and begins to set, A pride of lions casts such long silhouettes While they roar till the end of twilight, And the nearby buzzards take flight, And all others take in the sight Of the roar of the powerful lions.
At midnight the sky turns black And a streak of tigers plans to attack. They move swiftly as their pelts still shone, However, a sole tiger stands alone In the foliage way overgrown, Watching with the eye of a tiger.
Every day, from dusk till dawn, A clowder of cats are faithfully drawn From different locations around the Earth. Always they put in all that they’re worth To produce every night a death and a birth. So here’s a forewarning for you to look at, I advise you this always: Beware of the Cat…
