1938 Silena, Age 6
Daddy, Why’d the bad men take our neighbors away? They left all their toys but the bad men took those too.
Daddy, Why didn’t mommy come home today? She left to get bread; did the bad men take her too?
Daddy, Why are we going far far away? We left with all our clothes on; will the bad men take us too?
Daddy, Why are we hiding in a closet? We’re squashed in here. We left a week ago; won’t the good men save us too?
Daddy, We’re caught. The bad men broke in. I’m scared of what they’ll do. I left my clothes; will the bad men take my dolly too?
Daddy, We’re packed into cars on a train. Someone’s coughing next to me. I can’t see or breathe. Hold my hand, please. They left the fresh air back at the station; did the bad men steal it too?
Daddy, Why are you to the left, and I to the right? I can’t see you anymore. At least I’ll get my coat back; they had me hang it on a hook. This is a weird shower. I left my clothes outside; what are the bad men dropping through the windows?
Daddy! Daddy! I found mommy!

Ok, the kid was in the gas chambers.... was the mom dead, or was she in the chamber too?
