Wow, surprised Whiteheart hasn't come on here and ranted about how much she hates it yet....
Anyway, I personally LOVE these books. Meyer's descriptive writing style is really unique, and I love how she builds up her characters through actions and descriptions SO MUCH that you feel like you REALLY know them, not just kinda like in some lesser novels.
The movie was not that bad, if I hadn't read the book I probably would've liked it even more, though in all fairness they did stay pretty true (much more than the last two HP films...). I even liked their cast choices once I got used to them.
And although this thread isn't about The Host, I have to say that I LOOOOOOOOOOOVED IT! It was a wake up call, like "Woah, she can write about something besides vampires?" It made me realise how truely original she is. And NO ONE can call Wanda or Melanie Mary-Sue's (which is like a too-perfect female character, counter part of the Gary-Stu). Wanda is more than a tad too self-sacrificing, and Melanie's...well, kind of hard to explain, sort of stubborn & edgy.

Actually, I've been nice.  I didn't want to rant because I don't want to offend anyone. Plus, I'm just plain tired of arguing. If this is a TWILIGHT FANBOARD, I wouldn't want to ruin your fun. You guys can talk about the series all you want- just don't ask me for my opinion if you don't want to her negative comments about the book, okay? |
